The Pengab index, which measures banking sentiment in the country, went down by 1.6 points to 1.8 in March, the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) and market researcher Kantar TNS have said in a joint report.
The drop in the index reflected a decrease in customer activity on the Polish market for banking services amid a resurgence of COVID-19 infections, according to the report.
Marcin Idzik of Kantar TNS was quoted as saying that the Pengab index bucked the usual seasonal upward trend and instead moved downward in March.
The study was carried out from March 8 to 26, surveying 100 bank outlets nationwide, state news agency PAP reported.
Last year, banking sentiment in Poland tumbled to its lowest level on record during the coronavirus pandemic.
