As the world struggles to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, sales of clothing and shoes soared by 93 percent in Poland last month in year-on-year terms, and those of motor vehicles increased by 50.5 percent, the state-run statistics agency said.
Meanwhile, sales of household appliances and consumer electronics rose by 39 percent, and those of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals decreased by 2.6 percent, according to the Central Statistical Office.
In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 17.1 percent higher than in March 2020, the Central Statistical Office said.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in March were 15 percent higher than in February, the statistics office also said.
