The Pengab index, which measures banking sentiment in the country, went down by 1.7 points to 13.5 in July, the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) and market researcher Kantar TNS have said in a joint report.

The drop in the index reflected a decrease in customer activity on the Polish market for banking services, according to the report.

Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz, the head of the Polish Bank Association, was quoted as saying that the banking sentiment index reflected "a slight correction" in the otherwise distinctly upward trend.

The study was carried out from July 7 to 26, surveying 96 bank outlets nationwide, state news agency PAP reported.

In April last year, banking sentiment in Poland tumbled to its lowest level on record during the coronavirus pandemic.
