EU ups Polish 2022 GDP growth forecast to 5.5%

The European Commission on Thursday raised its forecast for Polish economic growth this year to 5.5 percent, from a previous projection of 5.2 percent.

The EU executive also upgraded its 2021 GDP growth estimate for Poland, saying that the country's economy expanded by 5.7 percent last year, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, the European Commission predicts the Polish economy will grow 4.2 percent in 2023, below its previous forecast of 4.4 percent.

Poland's President Andrzej Duda this month signed into law the country’s budget for 2022, which expects the economy to grow 4.6 percent this year.

The Polish economy grew 5.3 percent in the third quarter of last year, according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).
