There were around 922,800 people without jobs across the nation at the end of February, down by 4,300 from a month earlier, according to the Polish labour ministry.

The state-run Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had inched up to 5.5 percent in January, from 5.4 percent in December.

Meanwhile, the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated this month that unemployment in Poland was a modest 2.8 percent in January, the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
