Polish MPs OK government’s handling of 2021 budget

Poland’s lawmakers have approved the government’s handling of the country’s 2021 budget.

The lower house of parliament on Friday voted 228 to 216, with one abstention, to give the government a clean bill of health over last year’s budget and to adopt its report on how the budget panned out, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

Poland finished 2021 with a budget deficit of around PLN 26.3 billion (EUR 5.53 billion, USD 5.64 billion), well below the PLN 40.5 billion target laid out in a revised financial planaccording to the government's report.

Government revenue totaled PLN 494.8 billion in 2021 and was PLN 11.9 billion higher than projected in the revised budget, according to the report approved by the house.

Meanwhile, spending stood at PLN 521.2 billion, PLN 2.3 billion below its target, the report said.
