“Polish forces are gaining new capabilities in space. Building security requires action in many areas, and that is what we are doing. Databases and information are today’s strongest currency, which is why the Satellite Mission Control Centre has been opened at WAT. Poland’s secure future lies in modern technologies,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
The facility uses a rooftop antenna to receive satellite data, processed with AI into high-resolution images, including radar-based pictures captured day and night in all weather conditions.
During the launch, officials established a live link with a satellite operated by Iceye, a company with Polish roots that has provided data to Ukraine and Polish services.
The centre will soon oversee Poland’s own military satellites, including three nanosatellites set for launch later this year.
