The 1.5-metre-long snake was spotted by children playing in the city's Piątkowo neighbourhood last week, private broadcaster TVN 24 reported.
An adult alerted emergency services, and animal control officers arrived at the scene. They nabbed the reptile and took it to a pet shelter, according to the tvn24.pl website.
The snake is believed to have been an escaped or abandoned pet, TVN 24 reported, citing a spokesman for Poznań’s municipal police force.
The spokesman, Przemysław Piwecki, told the broadcaster that emergency services in Poland were forced to a deal with a growing number of such incidents amid a fashion for breeding exotic animals.
Last summer Polish firefighters deployed drones and boats to search for a giant python believed to be on the loose near the capital Warsaw.
