From September 7, municipalities will be able to apply for over PLN 64,000 (USD 16,500, EUR 14,800) each to build or expand WiFi hotspots in public areas, parks, squares, train stations and libraries.

Marek Zagórski, the country’s minister for digital affairs, has told public broadcaster Polish Radio that he expects some 2,000 municipalities to benefit from the programme.

Officials cited by public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency said that many areas in Poland were “digitally excluded,” and would benefit from internet access.
