Przemysław Czarnek made the announcement in an interview with the state-run TVP Info news channel on Sunday.

He said that Ukrainian teachers arriving in Poland were already being employed as teaching assistants to help prepare Ukrainian children for joining Polish schools.

These preparatory courses, which involve intensive learning of the Polish language, are being held in schools as well as other facilities made available by authorities, Czarnek said.

He also told TVP Info that some 700,000 school-aged Ukrainian children have arrived in Poland since the outbreak of the war last month, with 75,000 of them already enrolled in Polish schools.

Czarnek said the Polish government was prepared to "keep welcoming" Ukrainian children to the country’s schooling institutions, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

Last week, Czarnek appointed a special team of experts to help integrate children from war-torn Ukraine into Polish schools.

Monday is day 26 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Poland on Sunday reported it had admitted nearly 2.1 million refugees fleeing Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
