According to local officials, the agreement will help kids access a variety of services concerned with education, healthcare and psychological support, Polish state news agency PAP has reported.

Poznań Mayor Jacek Jaśkowiak said on Monday: “Children from Ukraine need our assistance. We must provide them with the best possible support, but this support needs to be wise, allowing them to settle in the new environment without stifling their identity.”

He added: “Cooperation with UNICEF will enable us to provide better care not just to young Ukrainians, but also to young Poles.”

'Children fleeing war in Ukraine need our support'

UNICEF’s Refugee Response Coordinator in Poland, Rashed Mustafa Sarwar, said that by working together, Poznań and the UN agency “can ensure that all children have access to education, healthcare and psychological support, so as to guarantee them protection and healthy development.”

He added: “Children fleeing war in Ukraine need our support. Thanks to our partnership with Poznań and Jacek Jaśkowiak, together we’ll be able to reach them with education, mental health care and essential services so they're protected and can thrive.”

Tuesday is day 139 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
