Officers say they stopped 1,184 drunk drivers during their Safe Easter 2023 road safety campaign, which lasted from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

Meanwhile, 269 drivers temporarily lost their licences for exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 kph in built-up areas, traffic police spokesman Robert Opas told reporters.

The Easter weekend is usually when Poles spend time with their extended families and travel extensively to visit their relatives. Family gatherings are often accompanied by alcohol.
