Women’s volleyball: Poland reach final four of European championships

Poland have reached the final four of the Women's European Volleyball Championship after an inspiring five-set victory over Germany.

The Poles won 3-2 in their quarterfinal match in front of a home crowd in the central Polish city of Łódź on Wednesday.

The Polish team on Sunday beat Spain 3-0 in the tournament’s round of 16.

The 2019 Women's European Volleyball Championship is being held in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Turkey from August 23 to September 8.

The semifinals and the gold and bronze medal matches will be played in the Turkish capital Ankara at the weekend.

Poland will face off against hosts Turkey in a semifinal on Saturday.
