The Polish top seed eased past the 57th-ranked Romanian player 6-3, 6-0 in 68 minutes in the second round of the women's singles in the Italian capital on Wednesday, tallying her 24th consecutive victory.

Świątek, who is defending her title at the clay-court tournament in Rome, had a bye in the first round. She will now face former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus for a place in the quarterfinals.

The 20-year-old Pole last month won the Stuttgart Open tournament in Germany, claiming her seventh career singles title.
