Poland’s world No. 1 Iga Świątek has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Italian Open tennis tournament in Rome, with a straight-set win over Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.

The Polish top seed saw off the former top-ranked Belarusian player 6-4, 6-1 in the third round of the women's singles in the Italian capital on Thursday, tallying her 25th consecutive victory.

Świątek, who is defending her title at the clay-court tournament in Rome, will now face Canadian Bianca Andreescu for a place in the semifinals.
