French Open: Poland’s Hurkacz through to 3rd round of men's singles

The 25-year-old Pole defeated Italy's Marco Cecchinato 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the men's singles at the Grand Slam tournament in the French capital on Thursday.

Hurkacz, 13th in the world ranking, next takes on Belgium's David Goffin for a place in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Iga Świątek has cruised into the third round of the women's singles competition at the French Open, with a 6-0, 6-2 win on Thursday against American Alison Riske.

The Polish world No. 1, who triumphed in Paris in 2020, won her 30th match in a row.
