Iga Świątek’s decision was announced by the event organisers on Friday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Last week, the 21-year-old Pole claimed her second French Open and is currently on a 35-match winning streak.

That run has seen her win six successive tournaments (Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, Rome and Paris) and shoot to number one in the WTA rankings.

Świątek said she would now “focus on recovery and rest” as she prepares for Wimbledon, which starts on June 27.

Missing next week’s grass event in Berlin will give her more time to regroup as Poland’s world No. 1 sets her sights on winning another Grand Slam title, the PAP news agency reported.
