The 25-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 10 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), defeated home favourite Adrian Mannarino, 7-6, 6-4, in the first round in the French capital on Tuesday.

Up next for Hurkacz in Paris is Norway's Holger Rune.

Hurkacz is playing for his sixth career singles title in Paris, while also seeking to secure a berth in the season-ending ATP Finals next month.

The Pole in late October reached the quarterfinals of the Vienna Open tournament in Austria, where he lost 4-6, 7-6, 6-7 to Croatia's Borna Ćorić.

The 2022 Paris Masters indoor hard-court tournament runs until Sunday.
