The Opera Rara Festival spans music of nearly four centuries and features "a multitude of moods," according to its website.
The event prides itself on providing audiences with some “excellent interpretations” in a bid to give the southern Polish city of Kraków a stronger role as a capital of classical music.
Elżbieta Krajewska was on the line to festival producer Matylda Myczka, of organisers Capella Cracoviensis, as the event was set to open at the city’s splendid Słowacki Theatre on Thursday.
The Opera Rara Festival runs until February 14.
