Jan Komasa’s drama Corpus Christi is in the running in the European Film, Director, and Screenwriter categories, while Agnieszka Holland’s Charlatan is vying for an award for best director.

Corpus Christi is competing for best film against Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round, Burhan Qurbani’s Berlin Alexanderplatz, Václav Marhoul’s The Painted Bird, Christian Petzold’s Undine, and Pietro Marcello’s Martin Eden, following an announcement by the European Film Academy (EFA) on Tuesday.
The academy’s more than 3,800 members will now vote for the winners, who are due to be announced in a series of virtual events from December 8 to 12, according to the europeanfilmawards.eu website.
The European Film Awards, now in their 33rd year, were first presented in 1988.
Recent Polish winners have included Paweł Pawlikowski, who scooped a string of prizes at the 2018 European Film Awards for his movie Cold War.
In 2017, Polish-British film Loving Vincent, directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, won the European award in the animated feature film category, while Communion by Polish director Anna Zamecka was named best documentary.
