Cinematographer Piotr Sobociński jr., 37, has worked on Jan Komasa’s Corpus Christi, which won an Oscar nomination in 2020 and is one of the most acclaimed Polish films of recent years.

Meanwhile, Mirosław Makowski, 61, was responsible for sound in Paweł Pawlikowski’s 2018 Oscar-nominated Cold War.

A total of 395 film artists were invited this month to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  This is much less than in previous years as the Academy wants to keep the overall membership of Oscar voters under 10,000 amid fears of losing some of its prestige.
