Final farewell for veteran Polish actor Andrzej Zaorski

Veteran Polish actor Andrzej Zaorski was buried at the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Zaorski, who was an actor, satirist and a writer of radio dramas and television programs, died on October 31 at the age of 79.

He had appeared in a number of Warsaw theaters and played roles in dozens of films, such as Marysia i Napoleon, Matka królów (Mother of Kings) and Piłkarski poker (Football Poker), as well as in the classic television series Lalka (The Doll), Stawka większa niż życie (More Than Life at Stake), and Panny i wdowy (Maidens and Widows).

He also worked with leading Polish comedy acts such as Pod Egidą, Tu 60-tka, Kaczuch Show, and U Lopka.

In the 1960s, Zaorski became associated with Polish Radio. Over the years, he appeared in several hundred radio dramas and broadcasts.

In 2006, he was honored with Polish Radio's Golden Microphone award for his “all-round talent and skill.”

In 2012, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Polonia Restituta Order in recognition of his artistic achievements and for his contribution to democratic changes in Poland.
