Regional music festival opens in Warsaw

Around 500 musicians from 17 countries are set to perform at a regional music festival starting in Warsaw on Friday.

The Eufonie International Music Festival of Central-Eastern Europe, now in its third year, promotes the musical tradition of countries from the region, stretching from the Balkans, through Romania and Austria, the Visegrad Group countries, Ukraine and Belarus, to the Baltic states.

Audiences will have an opportunity to enjoy music from various eras and genres, from classical to ambitious pop, through experimental, jazz and early music.

During the nine days of the festival, it will host performers such as Veriko Tchumburidze, Janusz Wawrowski, Anastasia Kobekina and Olga Pasiecznik. Other standout names include Adam Bałdych, Urszula Kryger, Anu Tali, Zsolt Nagy, Olari Elts and Oval.

The festival comprises 14 concerts held at various venues in the Polish capital.

It is being organised by Poland’s National Centre for Culture and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio is a media partner of the event, which runs until November 27.
