Major retrospective of Abakanowicz opens in Wrocław

A retrospective exhibition of artistic work by late Polish sculptress Magdalena Abakanowicz has opened at the National Museum in Wrocław, southwestern Poland.

Starting from Sunday, visitors to the museum will be able to explore the largest and most representative set of Abakanowicz’s works.

The exhibition, held under the revealing title Abakanowicz. Total, showcases all the works created by Abakanowicz from the institution’s collection and materials documenting her artistic activities, according to the museum’s website.

Magdalena Abakanowicz, who died in 2017 at the age of 86, was famous worldwide for her works including spatial compositions called “abakans.”

The exhibition, displayed at the Four Domes Pavilion Museum of Contemporary Art, runs until August 28, 2022.
