13 Poles per 100,000 have COVID-19: health ministry

Thirteen people per 100,000 have COVID-19 in Poland, a drop from the previous figure of 16.6, according to a new set of data released by the country’s health ministry.

The European Union average is 14.3, the Polish health ministry said in a Twitter post on Thursday.

To compare, in Spain the incidence of confirmed COVID-19 cases stood at 9.1 per 100,000 as of June 25, down from 217.6 two weeks earlier, while in Italy it was 6.1, down from 124, the Polish health ministry said.

It cited data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

Among other European countries, Germany had an incidence rate of 8.3 per 100,000 as of June 25, down from 86.4 two weeks earlier, while the UK reported 24.9, down from 110.7, according to the Polish health ministry.

In France, the figure was 8.6, down from 86.1, while in Sweden the incidence of COVID-19 cases remained unchanged at 152.5.

Poland this week reported a coronavirus death rate of 38 per million population, up from 31 in early June.
