The Pengab index, which measures banking sentiment in the country, rose 7.5 points from negative territory in July to 4.1 points in August, the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) and market researcher Kantar TNS have said in a joint report.
The index reflected a further increase in customer activity on the Polish market for banking services, following an upswing in the previous two months, according to the report.
Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz, the head of the Polish Bank Association, was quoted as saying that the Pengab index was still significantly lower than before the pandemic but no longer in negative territory.
The study was carried out from August 7 to 24, surveying 100 bank outlets nationwide, state news agency PAP reported.
Earlier this year, banking sentiment in Poland tumbled to its lowest level on record amid the coronavirus pandemic.
