“Our good wishes for speedy recovery to our friends US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump,” Duda said in a tweet.

“Poland and the United States will get through the hardships and succeed in fighting COVID-19,” the Polish president added.

Donald Trump tweeted earlier that he and his wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19.

"Tonight, First Lady Melania Trump and I tested positive for COVID-19," Donald Trump said.

"We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately," he added.

"We will get through this together," the US president also said in his Twitter post.

The US first lady tweeted: "As too many Americans have done this year, President Donald Trump and I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19.

"We are feeling good and I have postponed all upcoming engagements.

"Please be sure you are staying safe and we will all get through this together."
