Norway, who are two-time Olympic champions and seven-time European champions, controlled the game from start to finish and won deservedly, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

Poland's Norwegian coach Arne Senstad said after the match: “I think that we did well in the first half, it was expected for Norway to come with a lot of speed and they did just that. We managed to do pretty well against it, we started to do some mistakes in attack and they took advantage by scoring goals on fast breaks."

Senstad added: “We were too satisfied in the dressing room, because the first minutes of the second half were a disaster. We must fix this, we made some mistakes we should not have done.”

The Polish team will next face off against Romania on December 5 and then take on Germany two days later.

Sixteen European teams, including defending champions France, are competing in the event in Denmark, which runs until December 20.
