The 9th Summit of Leaders of Central and Eastern European Countries and China is expected to focus on ways of deepening business ties, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will take the form of a videoconference, aiming to provide a platform for cooperation between 17 Central and Eastern European countries and China.

Originally, the meeting was due to be held in Beijing last April. But it was postponed because of the pandemic.
Ahead of Tuesday’s virtual summit, Polish presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski said his country was hoping to persuade China to open its market more widely to Polish goods, including farm produce.
During a speech at the event, the Polish president is expected to focus on ways of ensuring “pragmatic cooperation” with China as the world struggles to recover from the coronavirus crisis, according to Szczerski.

In addition to Poland and China, the so-called "17+1" group brings together Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Greece.
