As the world struggles to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic, sales of motor vehicles soared by 51.2 percent in Poland last month in year-on-year terms, and those of clothing and shoes shot up by 46.1 percent, the state-run statistics agency said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, sales of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 18.5 percent, and those of fuels increased by 9.6 percent, according to the Central Statistical Office.
In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 19.1 percent higher than in May 2020, the Central Statistical Office said.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in May were 8.2 percent higher than in April, the statistics office also reported.
