Polish unemployment down to 5.8% in July: stats office

Unemployment in Poland dropped to 5.8 percent in July, from 5.9 percent in June, the state-run Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported.

The reading was in line with an earlier estimate by the country’s labour ministry.

There were around 974,900 people without jobs across the nation at the end of July, compared with 993,400 a month earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland was a modest 3.6 percent in June, one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc.
