Polish industrial production up 7.8% y/y in October: stats office

Industrial production in Poland rose 7.8 percent in October compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Monday, as the economy bounces back from the coronavirus crisis.

The reading was higher than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 5.2 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in October was 2.3 percent higher than in September, the Central Statistical Office said.

According to the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, industrial production in Poland rose 8.7 percent in September, one of the fastest rates of growth in the 27-nation bloc.
