Warnings of high winds, intensive snowfalls and ice in southern Poland.

The Meteorological Office informs of a possibility of winds of up to 75 kph in the area of Jelenia Góra and Kłodzko Valley in the south-west. Strong winds, blizzards and snowstorms are predicted for highland areas in Silesia and Lesser Poland, also in the southern part of Subcarpathia.

High winds in the high Tatras on Sunday stalled the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch peak along with a number of ski lifts, and forced the ski area to close. Tatra National Park officials are warning hikers of extremely difficult or even dangerous conditions on the trails.

High and gusty winds can be expected overnight nationwide, warn meteorologists, and are to continue in the coming days, along with the predicted warmer temperatures.

Meanwhile the Hydrological Office in Baltic port city Gdynia has issued first-degree warnings of rapidly rising water in the Vistula Lagoon and the Żuławy area.

The coastline of Gdynia suffered painfuly in recent storms, which swept away most of the local beach, bringing water up to 8 metres closer in places.
