Kicking off a crucial week in the Western standoff with Moscow that will see US President Joe Biden visit Poland after attending NATO and EU summits, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Monday met with the Swiss president and the Dutch prime minister.

“Switzerland is where many Russian oligarchs have allocated their assets … That is why I was persuading President Cassis for Swiss authorities to take decisive steps in freezing and confiscating Russian oligarchs’ assets,” Morawiecki said after his talks with Switzerland’s Ignazio Cassis.

Meanwhile, Poland's President Andrzej Duda has travelled to MoldovaBulgaria and Romania for consultation meetings with those countries' leaders.

Poland on Tuesday reported it had admitted 2.14 million people fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Radio Poland’s Michał Owczarek has the story.
