Mateusz Morawiecki made the remark in an exclusive article for Britain’s The Telegraph newspaper.

Putin has 'deadlier weapons at his disposal'

He wrote: “Putin is neither Hitler nor Stalin. Unfortunately, he is more dangerous.”

Morawiecki added that Putin has “deadlier weapons at his disposal, but he also has the new media at his fingertips to spread his propaganda … He infected the internet with millions of instances of fake news.”

According to Morawiecki, the Putin regime’s “monstrous ideology” poses “a deadly threat to the whole of Europe” and must be rooted out entirely.

'Cursed phantoms of 20th century'

The Polish prime minister said that the West had “blissfully forgotten” the Russian threat while “in Moscow, work was under way to resurrect the demons of history.”

He added that today, “the cursed phantoms of the 20th century,” Nazism and communism, “have risen again over Ukraine.”

Morawiecki warned that if Putin was not stopped in his ongoing assault on Ukraine, war would soon engulf the whole of Europe.

‘Deputinisation’

“Just as Germany was once subject to denazification, today the only chance for Russia and the civilised world is ‘deputinisation,’” Morawiecki wrote in his article, which was published on Tuesday.

He went on to say: “If we do not engage in this task immediately, we will not only lose Ukraine, we will lose our soul and our freedom and sovereignty, as well.”

He warned that "Russia will not stop at Kyiv."

Putin "has set out on a long march towards the West" and "it’s up to us to decide where we stop" him, Morawiecki concluded.

Wednesday is day 77 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
