US announces new $725m military aid package for Ukraine

The United States will provide Ukraine with another military aid package worth a total of USD 725 million.

The new assistance is aimed at bolstering the country's defence against the Russian invasion, the US Department of Defence said, according to Reuters.

The latest package includes ammunition for the HIMARS rocket systems, artillery rounds, anti-tank weapons, combat vehicles and medical supplies.

The package is the 23rd drawdown of equipment for Ukraine since August 2021, according to a statement by the Pentagon.

The Joe Biden administration's total military aid to Ukraine has already exceeded USD 17.6 billion since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.
