The death toll from a Russian missile attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region has climbed to nine, according to local officials.

Ukrainian rescue services have reported that search teams uncovered the body of a woman during overnight efforts to sift through the rubble. Four people remain unaccounted for.

On Friday, Russian forces launched a barrage of at least seven rockets at Sloviansk. Six of the missiles struck a residential area, damaging 34 residential blocks, 20 single-family homes, civilian infrastructure facilities, and 12 vehicles.

Sloviansk lies in the Donetsk region, near Russian-occupied territory, and to the west of Bakhmut, a city which Russia has been trying to capture.
