Russian casualty toll in Ukraine rises to 498,940: report

Around 498,940 Russian troops have been either killed or wounded in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February 2022, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 7,635 tanks, 14,775 armored fighting vehicles and 12,902 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday, Ukrainian forces killed or wounded 1,240 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 1,080 multiple launch rocket systems, 813 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 356 warplanes, 326 helicopters, 27 warships, and 10,401 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 821 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
