Andrzej Duda hosted the talks at his National Security Bureau (BBN) in Warsaw on Tuesday night, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

In attendance were Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński, and Poland’s top military commanders, officials said.

Rebuilding Ukraine, restoring energy and transport infrastructure

At a media briefing afterwards, the head of the BBN, Jacek Siewiera, said the meeting focused on Morawiecki’s participation earlier in the day in an international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Berlin "and the rebuilding of Ukraine’s energy and transport infrastructure.”

Siewiera added: “Also discussed were issues to do with allied cooperation, further NATO support for Ukraine as well as information relayed during talks by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and the stance taken by allies, unequivocally stating the risks and serious consequences that may arise due to possible provocations related to the use of any form of nuclear weapons, including tactical nuclear weapons or a dirty bomb.”

Siewiera told reporters that "Russia’s switch to defensive warfare and criminal attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, designed to break Ukrainian morale, also require an adaptation of allied strategy and the approach of Poland and NATO allies to supporting Ukraine.”

Tuesday’s meeting also offered an opportunity “for the Cabinet ministers, the president and the prime minister to share updated information on the situation in Ukraine," Siewiera said.

It was another in a series of meetings hosted by Duda to bring together Poland’s senior politicians and military commanders, according to officials.

Previous get-togethers focused on national security, Russia's war against Ukraine and Poland’s energy security, the PAP news agency reported.

Wednesday is day 245 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
