He replaces Adam Kołodziejczyk, a Pole who resigned earlier this month.

Bratli, 34, has previously coached the Chinese women’s team and also worked with Czech biathletes.

He most recently worked in China alongside biathlon legend Ole Einar Bjoerndalen as well as Tobias Torgersen, another Norwegian who until 2018 coached Poland's women’s biathlon team.

German Michael Greis last year became head coach of the Polish women’s biathlon team to replace Ukrainian Nadiya Bilova.

Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

The sport's top international competitors are scheduled to return to action in late November.
