Wrestling: Four medals for Poles in Oslo

Poland scooped four medals, one gold and three bronze, at the world wrestling championships, which ended in Oslo on Sunday.

Poland’s Arkadiusz Kułynycz took the bronze in the men’s 87 kg Greco-Roman on the last day of competition in the Norwegian capital.

Earlier in the championships, Poland’s Gevorg Sahakyan won the bronze in the men’s 72 kg Greco-Roman, while countrywoman Katarzyna Krawczyk finished third in the women’s 53 kg freestyle.

Poland's brightest moment in Oslo came from Magomedmurad Gadzhiev, who took the gold in the men’s 70 kg freestyle, earning the country's first world championship in freestyle wrestling.

About 650 wrestlers from 66 countries, both men and women, competed for medals at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships, which were held in Norway from October 2 to 10.

Poland won nine medals, four silver and five bronze, at the European wrestling championships, which were held in its capital Warsaw in April.
