A final decision has yet to be made, and it is unclear when the vehicles would be operational, according to Bloomberg.

Mark Cancian, a former White House defense budget analyst, told Bloomberg that Bradleys would provide “a major increase in ground combat capability because it is, in effect, a light tank.”

Cancian, who is now with the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank, said that crews and maintainers would need to be trained to operate the vehicles, Bloomberg reported.

“Unlike the previously provided M113s, the Bradley is heavily armed with a powerful 25 mm gun and TOW anti-tank missiles," Cancian said, as quoted by Bloomberg.

"The United States has many Bradleys, though some are older and need upgrades, so inventory is not a problem," he added.
