Poland's Zbigniew Rau and Japan's Yoshimasa Hayashi spoke about Russia's aggression against Ukraine and ways to enhance bilateral relations, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
The two top diplomats explored opportunities for further cooperation in areas including security and business, the Polish foreign ministry said.
Rau and Hayashi also discussed "issues related to the Poland-Japan strategic partnership" and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
Rau told reporters after the meeting that the two countries were ready to work together in a number of areas.
"We will work towards creating new platforms for cooperation, through working-level consultations within two key areas for our countries - security and the economy," Rau said at a joint news conference with Hayashi, as quoted by the foreign ministry in Warsaw.
The Polish foreign ministry said that Rau's visit to Japan aimed to "emphasise the special importance" of bilateral relations, "which were elevated to the rank of strategic partnership in 2015."
While in Japan this week, Rau is also scheduled to make a trip to Hiroshima to meet with local officials there and tour the Peace Memorial Museum, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
Wednesday is day 441 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
