Russian military death toll in Ukraine hits 200,000 mark: report

More than 200,000 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

"Ukraine's defense forces killed about 200,590 Russian invaders between February 24, 2022 and May 17, 2023," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Wednesday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Tuesday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 610 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

The Russians have also lost 3,771 tanks, 7,365 armored fighting vehicles and 3,166 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 562 multiple rocket launchers, 318 air defense systems, 308 warplanes, 294 helicopters, 18 warships, and 2,748 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 448 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
