The reading was in line with an earlieestimate by the government.

There were around 846,900 people without jobs across the nation at the end of March, compared with 864,800 a month earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) office.

The state-run statistics agency reported earlier this month that employment in Polish companies rose 0.5 percent in March on average in year-on-year terms.

According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland was a modest 2.8 percent in February, unchanged from January and the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
