Team Poland is headed by sprinter Ewa Swoboda and includes top-performing hurdlers Pia Skrzyszowska and Jakub Szymański.

Other standout entrants on the team include Olympic champion Justyna Święty-Ersetic in the women's 4x400m relay and 2023 European indoor silver medalist Piotr Lisek in the men's pole vault.

Some other Polish names to watch in Glasgow include Anna Wielgosz in the women’s 800 metres and Mateusz Borkowski in the men's 800 metres.

Following a string of strong performances by its track-and-field athletes, Poland is looking to make its mark at this year's World Athletics Indoor Championships, which will be held in Glasgow from March 1 to 3.

Over 650 competitors from more than 130 countries are expected to take part, competing in 26 events, 13 for men and 13 for women.

Poland won two medals, a silver and a bronze, at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade.

'First Glasgow, then Rome and Paris'

Poland's Swoboda recently clocked a then world lead of 7.01 in the women's 60 metres, her best time in two years. Only Saint Lucian track star Julien Alfred, with the 6.99 she ran in New York, has gone faster so far this year, according to the World Athletics, the global governing body for track and field.

Alfred's 6.99 matches Swoboda's personal best, set on home turf in Toruń in 2022.

This year promises to be a huge one for Swoboda, World Athletics says, with the World Indoor Championships, European Athletics Championships and the Olympic Games all in her plans.

“First Glasgow, then Rome and Paris,” she says.
